This has been a summer of chaos. Both the city of Winnipeg and Manitoba Hydro decided to make getting to our adoption centre almost impossible. This means that total adoptions are WAY down, and income from our adoption center is almost nil. Add in a 10 day adoption event that fell far short of reasonable goals, both in terms of completed adoptions and dollars raised, and you have us in dire straits, again.
Over the past 6 weeks, expenses have exceeded income by over $10,000.
Most of this shortfall is directly attributable to the fact that it is almost impossible for the general public to get to us while the city and Hydro are digging up every road around us.
We are not being extravagant. We are not holding catnip parties every night, or sending staff on luxury junkets. We are operating at bare bones minimums. Our staff and volunteers are making heroic efforts to care for the critters and conserve resources. Board members have dug deep to provide what they can. Without these efforts our situation would be much worse.
Guys please spread this around and donate if you can! I volunteer at Craig Street Cats, and we’re in serious need of help! We care for hundreds of cats both in the shelter and around the city. Without help we’re in danger of closing and all our precious, sweet cats won’t have anywhere to go!
As of Aug. 28th we’ve raised less than $2000 of our $17,000 goal. Please help us get the $15,000 we need to stay afloat! Donate!
